Last post of 2006

Well, another year has flown by. It has been quite an interesting one. Last year was all about me finishing my education and graduating that this year has all been about the real world.

The year started off with me still dealing with the fact that my grandmother had been admitted to the hospital. I was also trying to prepare myself for my interview with Microsoft in texas (they were flying me down).

Then my grandmother passed away, I got a job with Microsoft and would be movind down in March. What was also tough was that besides dealing with the emotional issues of me not being back home or seeing my grandmother in a while, I was dealing with the fact that I was saying goodbye to a very important part of my life and that was University of Massachusetts Lowell, where I had met and made many great and wonderful life long friends.

So I started to work for Microsoft and enjoyed being down in the south. Made friends from Microsoft and really started appreciating technology (sounds very geeky) a lot more than I used to.

Got a chance to come up to Lowell for a few days and see everyone as well as attend graduation for some of my friends.

I went back home to India for a month and that was nice and a good change and well back here again to work and just trying to live my life and see what else is out there.

That is probably the major run down of 2006 in general. There have been other major events I know, some that I am willing to share, but can't remember at this moment, and some that I just don't want to.

Here is looking forward to the new year and hoping that things just get better. I know i'll have my downs but here is hoping that there are more and better up's than anything else. I have my new years resolutions in place, but lets just say they are an exact copies of last year and the year before and it just continues on. Oh well, such is life.

Looking back at my life and 2006 I remember this one part of a song and it just rings true because one will always have their ups and downs in life, but there is always the good and the bad, you just have to look for it.

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up in your face
~ Alanis Morissette - Ironic

Anyways goodbye 2006, hello 2007 and to all my friends out there wishing you all the best and a very Happy New Year. May all your dreams and wishes come true in this new year.

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out

Congrats You, yes You are the Person of the Year

Well, Well, Well, Time recently announced their 2006 Person of the year, and guess what, you won. Yes you, your best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, me, everybody.

Yes you. You control the information age. Welcome to your world! What do I mean? Well 2006 was the year for Social Networking. Now days, there is a lot going on in the technology world and improvements are being made to bring information to the user faster and easier. However no one has done that better than the ordinary user.

Websites such as Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, Soapbox, Digg, WikiPedia, and countless others bring information to us like never before.

Even blogs such as this help to bring content to people, and help control the flow of information through the internet. I didn't know I was the person of the year (hehe) until I read it on Digg. That is an example right there that I don't have time to be checking out the Time Magazine's website, but I certainly have time to be checking out all the websites listed above.

Anyways congratulations You. You control the inforamtion age. You the reader, the user control what or what not should be deemed important (both a good and a bad thing). 2006 is all about you and what you can do with the internet. Wonder what the future holds for us. Welcome to your world.

Geeky Quotes

Alright you are about to read some very Geeky quotes, but they were one's that I thought were either funny or really neat.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning. ~ Anonymous

I actually like that one a lot. And is so far my favorite. As a programmer (well at least thats what I want to do and I did it in college) we strive to write simpler user interfaces so that our programs are easier to use. However there will always be that one person, who can still mess it up.

You have just received the Amish Computer Virus. Since the Amish don't have computers, it is based on the honor system. So please delete all the files from your computer. Thank you for you cooperation. ~ Anonymous

I think that one is just funny.

That's a PEBKAC problem. (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair) ~ Anonymous

I think that one just describes me because I somehow always manage to crash something or the other, and apparently its just me.

If builders built buildings the way programmers wrote programs, then the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilization. ~ Weinberg's Second Law

That one is just so true.

There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. ~ Anonymous

This one is very geeky and 10 in binary (which is all 1's and 0's and what computers understand) is actually the number 2.

Well I just saw these online and wanted to share some of my favorites. Happy Holidays everyone. I hope its not too Geeky for you.
